Eating & Feeding

Help with use of utensils, cup/glass, cutting food on plate, cleaning face and hands after meals

Toileting

helping on & off toilet, use of commode & bed pan, wiping & cleaning body after toileting, cleaning ostomy and catheter tubes, applying diapers

Bathing

help with using tub or shower, soaping, shampooing hair, rinsing, and drying

Grooming

hair combing, brushing, oral hygiene, shaving, fingernail and toe nail care

Dressing

helping with putting on/taking off, assistance with special devices such as back/leg braces, corsets, artificial limbs or splints

Transferring

move from bed to wheelchair or sofa, come to standing position, repositioning to prevent skin breakdown

Mobility

help with walking or moving around inside the living area, moving from room to room, climbing stairs

Medication

help with administering medication

Meal Preparation

washing food, cooking, washing dishes

Grocery shopping

helping to compile a list identifying needed items, picking up items at the store, managing cart/baskets, transferring items to home and storing them away

Laundry

use of laundry machine, dryer, folding clothes, and storing clothes

Light housework

sweeping, vacuuming, washing floors, cleaning kitchen & sinks, cleaning bathroom, changing bed linen, taking out trash

Complex Care Tasks

bowel program, catheter or leg bags, colostomy care, peritoneal dialysis, range of motion exercises, specialized skin care, wound care
